It is a conversation project for trees of the family Dipterocarpaceae. These trees dominate the rain forests of Southeast Asia, home to a rich diversity of flora and fauna. The Arboretum will house over 200 species of dipterocarpaceae, many of which are threatened by deforestation. The work at the Arboretum may have an impact on climate action as the 2,000 trees at the Arboretum alone can store 80 million kg of CO2 in their lifetimes.
