Singapore Botanic Gardens is huge (82 hectares) with four gate entrances.
  • If you are taking public transport, go for Tanglin gate and Bukit Timah gate.
  • If you are drivingTanglin gate, Nassim gate and Tyersall gate are great because you can find car park there.
I would recommend Tanglin Gate (public transport and driving) and Nassim Gate (driving) as these gates are nearer to many popular attractions such as Swan Lake, National Orchid Garden and Ginger Garden.

Bukit Timah Gate is furthest away from many popular attractions.  However, it is only 30 m away from the Botanic Gardens MRT station and bus stop.

Tips for getting around.  Are there directional signs in the Gardens? How do I get my direction to various attractions?

There are many directional signs.  However, due to many similar trees and plants, you can easily lost your sense of direction.  Furthermore, there are no distinct boundary for each garden.  Here are some tips to help you to get around in the gardens.
    1. You may use the above Interactive Google Map.  On your mobile, you can see your location and many walking trails drawn on it.  Switch on your mobile data, will improve the accuracy of your location on your map.
    2. Identify the following landmarks in the gardens.  Once you see them, you will know where you are. (North, South or Central Zone of the Botanic Gardens Google Map )

Landmark 1: Shaw Symphony Lake. (Central Zone)

Identify this lake by looking out for the iconic Shaw Symphony Stage and the water lilies surround it.

Landmark 2: Palm Valley Lawn (Central Zone)

Map and Photograph of Palm Valley Lawn
The Valley Lawn is sitting in between the Shaw Symphony Lake and the National Orchid Garden.  Look out for many tall palm trees at the sides of the valley lawn.

Landmark 3: Swan Lake (South Zone)

Photograph: Swan Lake at Singapore Botanic Garden
Identify this lake by looking out for the Swan sculptures in the center of the lake.

Landmark 4: Eco Lake (North Zone)

It is important not to mix up this lake with the other two lakes.  Very simple.  This lake is a very PLAIN lake without Statues or Stage.

Where are the restaurants in the Botanic Gardens?

      Eateries at South Zone

Fusion Spoon @ Singapore Botanic Gardens, South Zone

      Fusion Spoon Restaurant
💓I recommend this restaurant for its reasonable price, variety of food and ambiance.  Note that it is located at the basement near the Tanglin Gate (South zone).  As mentioned in the video, if you don't want to eat in the gardens, you can go to Orchard Road where there are many shopping malls and eateries.

      Eateries at Central Zone

Casa Verde @ Botanic Gardens, Central Zone
A very popular restaurant as it is located near the Nassim Gate and the visitor info counter.  Usually pretty crowd during the peak hours.

The Garden Refreshment Kiosk @ Botanic Gardens, Central Zone
A small kiosk located opposite the National Orchid Gardens.  Sell drinks, sandwiches and snack.  There are no chairs and tables provided.  Find a benches or chairs nearby to have a quick bite here while immerse your soul in the greenery.

The Villa @ Botanic Gardens, Central Zone
Located near the National Orchid Gardens. Read more about The Villa opening hours and menu.

The Halia @ Botanic Gardens, Central Zone
Located near the National Orchid GardensRead more about The Halia opening hours and menu.

Cluny Food Hall @ Botanic Gardens, Central Zone
I would say this food court is at the remote end of the gardens.  Only two food stalls and one drink stall.  It is not air-conditioned but has several fans.  You can relax and enjoy the the greenery view while you eat.

Corner House @ Botanic Gardens, Central Zone
This is a high-class expensive restaurant in a historic white colonial bungalow.  Nice ambiance, beautiful interior and exterior design.

      Where are the toilets?

There are many toilets in the gardens.  With clear directional signs in the gardens, I don't think I need to show the toilet locations in this Map.
